Galyon Timber and Glulam has been providing wood products to craftsmen and builders for nearly 140 years. What began as a mill and lumberyard in Knoxville, Tennessee, supplying wood products locally, has evolved into a wholesale supplier of heavy timber and glulam prefabricated products, selling directly to commercial general contractors and government agencies throughout the continental United States.
The founder of Galyon Timber and Glulam, L.A. Galyon, recognized a need in the early 1870’s to provide milling services in Knoxville, Tennessee. Growing to employ about 60 men, the three-acre yard included rail sidings, a dry kiln, and a dry house. Galyon Timber and Glulam began to ship lumber and timbers throughout Tennessee. Near the turn of the century, L.A. Galyon's son, Eugene, took over the business and was responsible for its continued existence and growth.
Galyon Timber and Glulam briefly closed during the great depression. Then shortly after World War II, L. A. Galyon took charge of his father-in-law's company, Tennessee Eastern Lumber, a supplier of hardwoods to the furniture industry. Using his knowledge from Galyon Lumber, Mr. Galyon began to once again sell softwoods as well as hardwoods. The business grew with help from the post war boom in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
In 1983, his son John reincorporated Galyon Timber and Glulam and the business quickly grew into a supplier of prefabricated heavy timber and glulam products shipping nationwide. Today Galyon Timber and Glulam works with commercial general contractors throughout the United States selling timber and glulam products as well as many specialty wood products that are manufactured to specifications.
Today Galyon Timber and Glulam supplies many kinds of wood products, specializing in prefabricated heavy timber, glulams, parallam® PSL, timber and glulam trusses, as well as roof decking, including hardware and shop drawings. Although our company's emphasis has changed over the years, our core values have not. Our goals are to:

- Inform, consult, and service those who specify or use heavy timber and glulam beams
- Supply glulam and timber products within budget and delivered as specified
- Ensure each customer is satisfied with the product they order
- To offer the original certifications for wood products upon request
